So Excited – Lifting of Local COVID-19 Restrictions!

After two years we finally see a lifting of COVID-19 restrictions locally and throughout British Columbia.

As of next month – April 8, 2022, at 12:01 am – further COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted around British Columbia. It’s so close to normal, after so much time, we almost have to pinch ourselves that it’s true! So, if you’re planning a trip to Nelson, BC and a lovely stay here at Alpine Inn & Suites, you can enjoy all that our area has to offer almost like it was pre-pandemic.

As of April 8th, the expanded easing of COVID-19 restrictions here and throughout the province are:

  • Proof of vaccination will no longer be a requirement under public health order to access businesses, events and services. Keep in mind, however, that you may find that individual local businesses and event organizers can choose to continue asking for proof of vaccination for entry. Please be respectful of their choice. If you’re planning federally regulated travel, such as by plane, expect to still have to provide your proof of vaccination.
  • You won’t find any capacity restriction on outdoor or indoor events and gatherings – hooray!

Lifting of COVID-19 restrictions includes masks

As of now, you can choose to wear a mask or not in public indoor spaces. And, while masks are not required, they are still encouraged on public transit and BC Ferries.

Wearing masks is now a personal choice. It’s also the choice of individual businesses and event organizers whether they’re required for entry. Again, please be respectful of their request. As we transition back, everyone will have different feelings and levels of comfort, so it’s very important that we respect the choices of people, businesses and each other.

Restaurants, bars, pubs and nightclubs can operate at full capacity

Great news! Your favourite eating, drinking, and night-time establishments are operating as they were pre-pandemic. You can expect:

  • Normal liquor service hours
  • No limits on table size
  • Customers don’t have to remain seated
  • Dancing is allowed

We continue to stay up-to-date on the ever-changing situation that has come to define the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be following the most current requirements to ensure the health and safety of our guests. If you have any questions about our protocols or our most current requirements, please CONTACT US!
