Expand your mountain experience while skiing with a seasoned local guide who can set efficient up tracks and find the perfect run lines. Tours and terrain choice is tailored to meet beginner to advanced skiers and boarders. Guided programs occur from December through April.
Guests can pre-book a guided backcountry ski touring day at a discounted rate of $113 per person (*based on group of 4) or $180 per person (*based on group of 2). We advise bookings to be made a month in advance; however trips 14 days in advance can be arranged.

Avalanche Skills Training & Stay
If you’re planning to explore the local backcountry this winter, learn basic travel and powder skiing safety in avalanche terrain. Avalanche skills training (AST 1) is an introductory 2 day course teaching you how to recognize avalanche terrain, manage routes and read snow pack information. Learn how to better choose the right up track so you can avoid avalanches and safely enjoy your descent run!
AST 1 course with Summit Mountain Guides follow the Canadian Avalanche Association program, goals and objectives. Participant should have basic backcountry skiing or boarding ability or able to ski intermediate to advanced resort runs. Intro to Backcountry Ski Touring
This comprehensive weekend course is an excellent introduction to backcountry ski touring. Participants will learn about gear use, touring skills and hazard awareness required for safer and enjoyable ski touring. $265 per person based on a group of 4.
Heli-Drop Ski Tour Day
Get the most out of your holiday in the Kootenay by flying directly into the backcountry of the Selkirk and Purcell Mountains. Start your day with an exciting run down a remote peak, ski an exclusive mountain area for the day and enjoy being far from the crowds. Starting price $400 per person based on a group of 4.
Avalanche Skills Level 1
